Depending on the focus of a tool and the availability of data resources a developer may want to examine many of the following statistical procedures.

Examination of a tool's validity uses a framework of

	Descriptive statistics
	Correlation, covariance and regression coefficients of a tool's scales with other independent outcome and performance measures.
	Examination of differences in category or group performance based on selected criteria (demonstrated skills or knowledge).
	If appropriate discriminate analysis or other selection criteria evaluations.
